A company from Dubai, UAE, called Blue Carbon is buying control over vast areas of land in Africa. Why?
On the surface it looks like they want to conserve forests, avoid logging them, but why?
It is plain business: Once they own the land and declare it to bind carbon to prevent the climate change, they can sell the carbon credits to other companies who can then release more carbon into the atmosphere.
It seems that they are even evicting local people from their ancestral homes and land to do that carbon credit business. ?
